Here is what to look for in Chinchilla cages:

- No plastic
- wire on the outside no bigger than 1' by 3' (for kits wire no bigger than 1/2" by 1"
- inside wire spacing no bigger than 1/2" by 1/2"
- atleast 16"x18"x20" (LxWxH)
- animal proof locks

I recommend using a cage with solid shelves instead of wire, as toes sometimes become lodged in the wire spacing.

For a water bottle, I recommend the top loading All Living Things water bottle.
