Chinchillas require calcium like all other living things, but they should receive all the calcium they need from high quality pellets and hay. Occasionally a chin will need a little extra calcium like when they litter or if their teeth are light yellow instead of orange. Offering a cuttlebone is the best way to provide extra calcium.
This should be in moderation only. Too much calcium will result in bladder stones, white urine deposits and constipation. |
