When you have multiple chins housed together, you will see that from the beginning they attempt to establish dominancy over each other. They attempt to establish dominancy in many ways, one of the most noticeable is by mounting each other. Whoever is trying to establish dominancy will mount the other chin. Another give away is whisker length, the more dominate a chin is, the longer their whiskers will be. Shorter whiskers are a sign of less dominance. If you are having dominancy issues, I recommend cutting the dominate chins whiskers shorter.
If your chins ever seem to be fighting, don't hesitate to separate them, as chinchilla fights can be very violent, and can result in death, severe injury, shock and expensive vet bills. |
