   Dust or Sand

Chinchillas require little grooming from you, unless you are planning on showing. You do however, need to offer them a dust bath about every three days.

If your chinchilla is itchy, offer the dust less, if it looks oily, or had an accident where something got on it's fur, offer it more. It is important to use a high quality dust, as it will clean the hair the best. I recommend using blue cloud because it leaves the coat looking really nice.

Using sand instead of dust can actually damage the coat, and leave it looking dull.
