   Mating: General Information

Mating is mainly a game of sit and wait, as all chins vary with the way they mate. Sometimes you might see your chins mating, but some you may never see mate. If you are really lucky you will find a mating plug which is sometimes found after mating has occurred. There is also something called a heat plug, which is sometimes found after a female is in heat, it is usually smaller than the mating plug chins will take no time at all to get pregnant. One of my first time breeding females conceived the first day that she was with her mate, as she littered exactly 111 days after being introduced to her mate. But other chins may take months to conceive. Really it takes a lot of patience on your behalf, especially when it gets close to litter time!

Please remember that supervised playtimes with a female and male chin is not a very good idea unless you are planning on breeding, as mating can happen very quickly, even if you are carefully watching over them.
