After a female litters she will enter into a heat cycle, and if she is left with her mate, the chances of her becoming pregnant again are very high. This is called a breed back and if this method is practiced frequently it can put serious stress on a female chin.
However, many people tend to think that the stress of separating mom and dad is worse than a possible breed back, and others even say that a female will regulate her pregnancies herself. I personally think each chin varies, and it would depend on the situation, but I think not separating is less stressful for the mom, as the dad really does provide a lot of help to the mom during kit rearing. |
